Thermal and Environmental Design for Human Comfort in Japanese-Designed Architecture in Thailand
نویسندگان
چکیده
These multiple case studies investigate thermal and environmental architectural details unique to the Japanese-designed educational facilities in Thailand, namely [1] King Mongkut Institute of Technology Ladkrabang 's Auditorium Memorial Hall, [2] Lecture Halls, [3] Kasetsart University's Central Laboratory, [4] Thammasat Japanese Studies, [5] Ministry Natural Resources Environment’s Research Center. Data sources include archival records, site surveys, interviews. The findings reveal various design strategies, such as double-layer walls, complex roofing design, specific orientation, water features that contemporary sustainable building designs may adopt increase comfort while reducing energy consumption. Ecosystem Biomimicry: A way to achieve thermal comfort in architecture
The strategies to reduce the consumption of non-renewable energies in buildings are becoming increasingly important. In the meantime, nature-inspired approaches have emerged as a new strategy to achieve thermal comfort in the interiors. However, the use of these approaches in architecture and buildings requires a proper understanding regarding the features of ecosystems. Although acquiring this...
متن کاملDynamic thermal comfort conditions in architecture
This paper will outline a research project currently being undertaken at The University of Melbourne aimed at developing a dynamic model of architectural comfort. Much of the energy used in buildings goes to providing suitable levels of environmental provision – light, heat and air – for building occupants. In terms of thermal performance, the levels have been determined principally through res...
